An apprenticeship is a fantastic way to supercharge your skills, allowing you to work towards a qualification during normal working hours.

If you’re thinking about applying for an Early Years Apprenticeship but aren’t sure what it involves, we’ve outlined some of the details of the programme,  to help you to figure out if it’s the right choice for you.

Apprentices on the programme work in a range of different early years settings, with children anywhere from two months to five years. You may be responsible for a specific age group, or work across the different ages, but ultimately you will be supporting children with specific needs and planning learning activities to ensure they can access the curriculum. You’ll also be able to specialise in your area of interest - whether that’s babies, toddlers or other needs such as emotional, social or language development.

You will gain an Early Years Educator diploma (RQF) as part of the apprenticeship, and you’ll also be able to complete a level 3 pediatric first aid qualification if you wish.

If you are passionate about seeing all children achieve their potential, are patient, caring, enthusiastic, then completing the apprenticeship will ensure that you are best equipped to support a range of children to reach their early development goals. Take a look at the table below to see what a typical week as an Early Years Apprentice could look like for you.
